Trail Bliss 2020, WA’s first Women’s Mountain Bike Festival kicked off at Linga Longa Bike Park in Balingup on Friday 23rd of October. The first event of its kind that we are aware of in Australia, saw 177 ladies of all skill level from beginner through to super advanced come together for an incredible weekend of riding bikes. The comradery between the ladies was awesome to see and it was a great networking opportunity for girls to find other girls to ride with!
The atmosphere over the weekend was incredible with ladies saying “it’s the best festival they have ever been to” and “A bloody awesome weekend”! In a year of uncertainty and challenges for many, Trail Bliss brought some light and sunshine. Many ladies commented it was exactly what they needed. Linga Longa weaved its magic with its welcoming feel and calming atmosphere amongst the thrill of the trails.
The success of this event cannot go without recognising that the support from all the local businesses and community made this happen. The festival was organised solely by volunteers from WA Gravity Girls and Linga Longa Bike Park. The event is not for profit and many amazing riders from the MTB community put their hands up to help out and volunteer. We cannot thank everyone that pitched in enough!
We hope that this is the start of many other positive things in women’s mountain biking in WA and Australia. Mountain biking is an inclusive sport where people of any age, ability and skill level can get involved. WA Gravity Girls and Linga Longa Bike Park couldn’t be more proud and happy with the success of the inaugural festival and the positive impact it has had on the mountain bike community.
